    Glen Keith 17 Years Old

Reopening Of The Distillery In 2013
    Lot #0251292
    FINISH DATE
    31 December 2015

The cask strength edition range of Highland and Speyside single malt whiskies from Chivas Brothers have been bottled in limited quantities. Included in the range are The Glenlivet, Strathisla, Scapa, Glenburgie, Longmorn and Miltonduff.  The Glen Keith Distillery started distilling in 1958 having been converted by Chivas Brothers from a mill to a fine single malt distillery. It fell silent in 1999 and has been caringly restored to distill again in the summer of 2013. This very rare example of Glen Keith 17 years old has been bottled to celebrate the re-opening of the distillery, and was matured in two classic American Oak hogshead casks.

    Glen Keith

Founded in 1957 on the site of an old mill, Glen Keith has enjoyed a colourful history thanks to many of the rumours about its experimentations. For most of its initial existence, Glen Keith adopted a triple distillation process and with some company laboratories on-site, was used as a full-scale testing kit by its owners. Such whispers have overshadowed what a fine whisky Glen Keith can be when it escapes the clutches of the Chivas Blenders with 100 Pipers being a prime destination. Such responsibilities didn’t stop the distillery from being mothballed in 1999 when demand for whisky was in worldwide decline. Fast forward to 2012 and the distillery is revived with a sizeable investment refurbishing much of the internal production including a huge new 8-ton mash. Since this investment, Chivas have sought to raise the profile of the distillery through various special editions and an entry-level No Age Statement release that you’ll find in many supermarkets for just £20.
