Glen Elgin 20 Years Old Rare Find 2001

2021 Scottish National Football Team Gleann Mor Single Cask
Lot #1460052
FINISH DATE
19 January 2026
Distilled at the Glen Elgin distillery, Speyside in 2001, matured in a single cask, (No. 2842) for 20 years and bottled in 2021 to mark the Scottish National Football teams qualification and participation in the The UEFA European Football Championship. This was the first major tournament that Scotland Men had entered since the 1998 World Cup. Perhaps one of the highlights of the '21 tournament was when we beat* the 'Auld Enemy' 0-0. Individually numbered bottles at natural cask strength without colouring or chill-filtration. *Moral victory
Glen Elgin

A classy Speyside distillery, Glen Elgin has been shackled to demands from blenders for much of its existence when it is deserving of a more visible single malt presence. Originally founded in 1898 by William Simpson and James Carle, Glen Elgin arrived too late as the boom for whisky suddenly ended. When production does commence 2 years later, it only lasts for 5 months before the distillery falls silent again. Glen Elgin then trades hands 3 times over the next 30 years before arriving in the prosperous hands of Scottish Malt Distilleries, who immediately put it to work for the famous White Horse blend. The association gives the distillery the lifeline and prominence that it so desperately was seeking. Together the success of the White Horse brand ensures the distillery is expanded with its slow distillation and long fermentation regime proving a hit. You’ll find Glen Elgin as part of the Flora & Fauna range or an occasional official Special Release.
