George Dickle is a sour mash made in Tennessee at Cascade Hollow distillery, Tullahoma. It was distilled in the Fall of 2005.
The brand and distillery now belong to Diageo, the Scheney company reopened the distillery after they failed to acquire neighboring Tennessee distillery, Jack Daniel’s. George Dickel chose the Old No. 8 and Old No. 12 brands based solely on consumer studies, which found these numbers to be very attractive. Neither of these numbers has anything to do with age, but one would think that the fact that these numbers are synonymous with popular age statements elsewhere would be part of the attraction.
