Fettercairn 2009/2010

2021 Warehouse 2 Batch No.1 & 2
Lot #1100379
FINISH DATE
31 January 2023
Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 marks the first release of a new limited edition collection, bringing together five different cask styles all filled back in 2010 and laid down to mature within the unique environment of the Highland distillery's warehouse. Crafted in 2010 by Whyte & Mackay Whisky Maker Gregg Glass, Batch 1 has been matured in hand-selected first-fill American and European oak casks within Warehouse 2. One of only 3,600 bottles released at 49.7% Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No.002 has been aged in first-fill ex-American rye barrels and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. These 29 American oak casks have been hand-selected from traditional dunnage warehouse 2.  These 2 bottles also come with a Fettercairn branded neat glass.
Fettercairn

Fettercairn can trace its roots back to 1824 and its foundation by Sir Alexander Ramsay. As the owner, he didn’t last too long and this became a common theme for the distillery during its lifespan; owners arrived and departed, punctuated by periods of closure. Such trends prevented Fettercairn from establishing its own identity. Since 1971, by our reckoning, the distillery has endured at least 9 different owners. In recent times, the former parent group of Whyte & Mackay was bought and sold in a game of distillery musical chairs. Arguably, because of the attraction of the Dalmore distillery, others within the group tagged along. There have been various attempts to establish a single malt presence for Fettercairn with the latest range being launched in 2018, assisted by the re-racking of maturating stock. Whether this latest attempt gains momentum remains to be seen, but the initial signs are favourable.
