Daftmill 2009 Single Cask #028

This 1st fill Oloroso Sherry butt from the Daftmill distillery was the pick of the La Maison Du Whisky (LMDW) team for their exclusive 2020 single cask bottling. The barley variety 'optic' was grown in the south fields at Daftmill Farm in the Heart of Fife and harvested in the last week of August 2006. It was then stored on the farm to be malted in Alloa during the summer of 2007. Distilled in the Summer season of 2009, the cask was filled on the 8th of July that year, matured onsite in dunnage warehousing and bottled exclusively for LMDW in 2020. One of only 649 individually numbered bottles. Whiskyfun, (Serge & Angus) scored this bottle a stonking 92 points. Daftmill is a farm distillery. Owned and operated by the Cuthbert family, it only runs in the farm's quiet periods; mid-summer and winter, sometimes producing as few as 100 casks per year. When not distilling, Francis Cuthbert looks after the farm, growing the malting barley used to make this Lowland whisky.
