Customs & Excise Bonded Warehouse Padlock

An original Customs & Excise padlock, complete with its matching Crown-stamped key, historically used to secure bonded whisky warehouses where spirit was held under duty suspension. The lock is of heavy cast steel construction with riveted plates and a protective keyway cover, consistent with late 19th to early 20th century Customs & Excise issue. The body is stamped “M 1857”, a government inventory/series number, and the key is clearly marked “C 👑 E”, confirming official Crown Customs & Excise ownership.
