Cragganmore 17 Years Old

The Manager's Dram 1992
Lot #0440454
FINISH DATE
31 July 2017
The Cragganmore 17-Year-Old Manager’s Dram is a rare Speyside single malt, matured in sherry casks and bottled at natural strength. Specially selected for the malt distillery management within United Distillers, this limited release reflects the distillery’s hallmark complexity and finesse. Distilled in the mid-1970s and bottled on November 25, 1992, it delivers a beautifully balanced profile, combining rich sherry sweetness with Cragganmore’s signature layers of fruit and subtle smoke. Aromas of dried figs, honey, and polished oak lead to a palate of ripe orchard fruits, gentle spice, and malted toffee. The finish is long, warm, and elegantly rounded, showcasing the depth and craftsmanship of this distinguished Speyside malt. A true connoisseur’s whisky — selected and bottled in celebration of the people behind Scotland’s finest distilleries.
Cragganmore

An overlooked distillery within the Diageo stable, Cragganmore is situated in a historic area of Speyside, in-between Tormore and Ballindalloch. Founded in 1869, it retains links to the Ballindalloch Estate in the form of providing casks for family consumption and these are poured during the distillery tour at Ballindalloch. For Cragganmore, its founder John Smith was a giant of a man and also well-respected, having worked at Macallan, Glenlivet and Glenfarclas – the big names of that time. He selected a very rural location, surrounded by farms for barley, a local water source and nearby peat. An added bonus was the arrival of a railway line that ensured an efficient route to market. John also instigated a distinctive distilling regime that remains in place today, using worm tubs, long fermentations, unique flat-topped stills with long lyne arms.
