Chichibu 8 Years Old 2014

This lot contains a special single malt from the oldest independent bottler, Berry Bros & Rudd. Distilled at the Japanese distillery Chichibu in 2014, then matured for 8 Years in a 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel (Cask No3351) before being bottled by Berry Bros in 2021 as part of their exceptional casks series, making this the first Japanese single malt to be bottled in this series. Only 213 bottles were produced from the cask at natural strength and without chill filtration or the addition of colouring. Chichibu was founded by the now legendary Ichiro Akuto in 2004 and began distilling in 208, becoming the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. The production at Chichibu is ruthlessly quality-focused and it has rightly become highly sought after by whisky aficionados around the world. Until recently the distillery only produced 60,000 L.PA, under 500 barrels per year - however, a much-welcome expansion has increased the output significantly.
