Lot #1340168
FINISH DATE

This very rare and fascinating whisky was distilled in 1981 and there were just 114 bottles available. You can read their description of the dram below.
“Like a fishing boat in the distance making its way back into harbour. Gentle waves of smoke and coal tar mingle with a delicate lemon and pineapple aroma. As the boat gets closer the old rope and weathered larch that have been sailing the seas under the watchful eye of the skipper start to become more apparent; cashews roasting on an open fire on the quayside are balanced with notes of fennel and lightly toasted brown bread. And now it’s arrived: iodine, more fennel and some fresh mint leaves welcome the boys home with the catch."
This special bottling was available exclusively from Cadenhead’s shop on Chiltern Street in Marylebone, London from Saturday 2nd April 2022.
Caol Ila
Islay’s biggest distillery is arguably its most consistent and underappreciated. Caol Ila was established in 1846 and when through a handful of owners thanks to various financial difficulties. The biggest change came in 1972 when the distillery and the majority of buildings were demolished and rebuilt. Famously, stepping into the gap during this period was inaction was the Brora distillery in Sutherland. After further investment in 2011, Caol Ila’s capacity increased to 6.5 million litres as its reputation continued to grow. Widely available in official versions and via independent bottlers, it now forms part of the Johnnie Walker experience with enhanced facilities for visitors.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I bid on the auctions?
You’ll need an account with us to place bids in any auction. Registration takes 60 seconds and there’s a small £5.00 registration fee, payable by credit or debit card. Once paid, you will be registered and can place bids in the auction immediately. The registration fee helps us ensure you’re a real person and a genuine bidder.
Why does the timer extend on a lot?
In the interest of fairness, any bids placed in the final five minutes of a particular lot will extend the end time of that Lot by 15 minutes. We believe in giving our customers a fair amount of time to increase their bid should they wish. Last second sniping isn’t in the spirit of our auctions and by using this system there is no benefit to doing so.
