Bruichladdich (Octomore) 9 Years Old 2009

2019 The Cask Whisperer
Lot #1290059
FINISH DATE
31 August 2024
Octomore is the highly peated single malt whisky crafted by Bruichladdich distillery, known for being one of the most heavily peated whiskies globally. It takes its name from the farm where it is produced, situated on a hillside north of Port Charlotte. Originally, the whisky was unpeated to cater to the requirements of its previous owners for blending purposes. However, Murray McDavid promptly expanded the Bruichladdich range by introducing the lightly peated Port Charlotte and Lochindaal variations. This 2009 vintage Ocotmore has been matured for 9 years in an ex-wine cask, bottled at cask strength in 2019 producing 292 bottles. This is the first release from Jim McEwans private stock under 'The Cask Whisperer' range.
Bruichladdich

Since Murray McDavid saved the distillery in 2000, with an asking price of £6.5 million. Bruichladdich has gone from strength to strength after a difficult initial period. Now under the ownership of Remy Cointreau, it is one of Islay’s most recognisable whiskies and brands. Remy brought much-needed financial clout that has allowed Bruichladdich to expand into new markets, build warehousing and pursue its brand of terroir. Today, it offers 3 distinctly different distillates, with the Bruichladdich being unpeated, a historical homage to a lost distillery (Port Charlotte) is heavily peated and well regarded. Then at the top of the peat ranking charts is Octomore, which pushes peat in new directions to an eager audience. Expect production details, various casks and eye-catching branding with each and every release from the distillery.
