Bruichladdich 8 Years Old

Octomore Masterclass 08.2
Lot #0510069
FINISH DATE
28 February 2018
All of the opulent spirit in 08.2 spent the first six years of its life in one of three different styles of wine cask.

French Mourvedre – a red wine grape that has a reputation for producing intense red fruit, and strong, earthy, even gamey flavours.

Austrian sweet wines – full bodied and charming with an ability to challenge convention with innovative techniques.

French Sauternes – casks from the Graves section in Bordeaux that previously held some of the most revered and exclusive dessert wines the world has ever seen.

All of the above were second fill casks which had calmed the wood perfectly in preparation for a longer maturation with the mighty Octomore before being ACEd into fresh Amarone casks for a period of two years.

The Octomore 08.2 edition is:
  • 167ppm

  • Distilled in 2008 using 100% Scottish barley, from 2007 harvest

  • Global travel retail exclusive

  • One of 36,000 bottles

Bruichladdich

Since Murray McDavid saved the distillery in 2000, with an asking price of £6.5 million. Bruichladdich has gone from strength to strength after a difficult initial period. Now under the ownership of Remy Cointreau, it is one of Islay’s most recognisable whiskies and brands. Remy brought much-needed financial clout that has allowed Bruichladdich to expand into new markets, build warehousing and pursue its brand of terroir. Today, it offers 3 distinctly different distillates, with the Bruichladdich being unpeated, a historical homage to a lost distillery (Port Charlotte) is heavily peated and well regarded. Then at the top of the peat ranking charts is Octomore, which pushes peat in new directions to an eager audience. Expect production details, various casks and eye-catching branding with each and every release from the distillery.
