    Brora

The great one is back in 2021, after closing in 1983. Diageo in need of a blue-chip distillery had to decide with dwindling stocks what it should do with the Brora legacy. Fortunately, it decided to undertake a mammoth reconstruction of the decaying distillery, which is across the road from Clynelish. Responsible for one of several great whiskies, Brora in 1972 is regarded as a classic vintage after it was called in to replace Caol Ila on Islay, which was being rebuilt. The distillery is held in great esteem and its listed buildings have endured many events since their creation by the much-disliked Duke of Sutherland. With no expense spared, we will have to wait a few years till we can contrast and compare this new Brora with its classic period.
