    Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish

    Lot #0241250
    FINISH DATE
    30 November 2015

Combining the best of the east and the west in a first for Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish is an intriguing marriage of Scottish strength and passion with Japanese elegance and refinement.

A selection of the very finest Mizunara oak casks handcrafted in Japan embarked on the 6,000 mile journey across two oceans to Islay and Bowmore's No,1 Vaults.

Here, in a first for Scotch whisky, these legendary Mizunara casks became home to Bowmore's celebrated Single Malt. 'The enchanting result interlaces sandalwood, vanilla and honeysuckle with pine and soft peat'.

Limited to only 2000 bottles worldwide.

    Bowmore

If we go by official dates, Bowmore is Islay’s oldest distillery in operation today, kicking off in 1779. Set in a spectacular location, along the coastline from the village of the same name. Bowmore had a mighty reputation founded on some classic whiskies from the 1960s. These have been released in a series of special editions and thankfully the current distillate is excellent. Somehow, Bowmore mixes the peat of Islay with a coastal vibe that is underpinned by a wonderful fruitiness. Shrouded in history, it also arguably has Scotland’s most famous and atmospheric warehouse in the Vault No.1. Stepping into this and walking through the maturing casks, while the ocean crashes against the outer wall, is well worth the price of admission.
