Bowmore Legend No.1

Crafted from a selection of the finest North American bourbon barrels, which help to bring out its trademark characteristics, Bowmore Legend is a fitting tribute to the very first Islay malt. So much so that it has become something of a legend in its own right, among single malt whisky lovers everywhere. "Legend of St.Ives". Legend has it that on May 1813 during the Napoleonic wars, a young French soldier named St.Ives was captured by his British enemies. Spared execution due to his knowledge of the English language, St.Ives was selected for special employment and imprisoned in Edinburgh castle. During his imprisonment he met and fell in love with a young visitor to the castle Flora Gilchrist. He escaped making a daring escape by hot air balloon. The balloon was carried westwards by east wind, eventually crashing on Lochindaal. St.Ives was rescued from the icy water by 'The true blooded yankee', a formidable brig o' war that was holding Bowmore under siege. Later released to safety, he was re-united with his beloved Flora.
