Caointeach - The 5th instalment in the Scottish Folklore Series from Cask 88. There are many spirits in Scottish folklore that do not cause, but can foretell, death. The Caoineag and Bean Nighe are two such - the first prohesies death through her keening wail, the second can be found at secluded streams, washing the clothes of those fated to die. On the Hebridean island of Islay, you may come across a third - the Caointeach, a spirit that has characteristics of both. It is said that each clan has its own Caointeach, and that if she is heard keeing outside the house, then death is near for one of its members/ You may also come across her, dressed in green, doing her grim laundry. One must ne especially careful on Islay - Caointeach cannot abide being disturbed at their work, and will lash at the legs of intruders with wet fabric. People struck this way may lose the use of their legs... or lose their legs entirely. For this release Cask 88 have bottled ar 1991 vintage Bowmore, this whisky has been matured in an ex-bourbon cask for 28 years. Captured at cask strength (53.2%) producing only 200 numbered bottles.
