Black Swan Distillery 1904 Delivery Order

An extremely old delivery order note from the Black Swan Distillery, London dated 24th October 1904. In the Gordon Riots of 1780, this Catholic-owned business was attacked and set alight. Rioters drank themselves senseless and then died in the flames, in scenes immortalised in Dickens’ Barnaby Rudge. James Buchanan starting James Buchanan and Company at the age of 35. His patience paid off after a slow start and he was awarded the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Scotch Whisky Distiller to Queen Victoria. Buchanan then purchased The Black Swan Distillery in Holborn which was quickly demolished to make room for his new HQ.
