Bimber The Spirit of the Underground

2021 Paddington Cask No.20
Lot #1490028
FINISH DATE
20 April 2026
This exceptional Bimber, London single malt, single cask whisky release was drawn from a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask and celebrates Paddington tube station. Cask No.20 was bottled in late 2021 and produced only 314 individually numbered, full-sized bottles, at a cask strength of 58.9%. **Opening this bottle and scanning the NFT on the cork will enter the recipient into a competition for one of five free bottles of Underground whisky. It will entitle the owner a discount of £12.50 from a future Underground purchases.** The Spirit of the Underground Series celebrates one of the great engineering projects of the past 200 years. A subterranean labyrinth steeped in history that empowers the true lifeblood of London - its people. Paddington Underground station features both sub-surface and deep-level platforms, opened in 1968 and 1913 respectively. Although shown on the London Underground map as a single station, Paddington is in fact two stations serving the Circle and District lines at one location and the Bakerloo line at another. The grand station is located around charming canals and serene garden squares and is also synonymous with the friendly, marmalade-loving bear of the same name. Cask No.20 has produced only 314 individually numbered bottles, at a cask strength of 58.9%.
Bimber

This London based distillery was founded in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since. Gaining local, then national popularity and in 2020, a series of single cask releases specific to various countries abroad. Starting out with a small 2 still set-up, Bimber has recently expanded to meet demand. Additional wooden washbacks were installed in 2019 as well. At the heart of its success is an attention to detail; using malted floor barley and production methods to enhance the flavour of the new make spirit. An intensive cask programme ensures that Bimber works well in a variety of wooden vessels from a young age. Demand means that releases from the distillery are in short supply, with even a small batch range selling out. We can expect more Bimber in 2021 including a new series based on stations within the London Underground network.
