Bimber Spirit of the Underground

This exceptional Bimber, London single malt, single cask whisky release was drawn from an Ex-Rye cask and celebrates Hammersmith tube station. Cask No.339 was bottled in October 2023 and produced only 280 individually numbered, full-sized bottles at cask strength (56.9%). This lot contains a full size bottle and an accompanying 3cl dram. The Spirit of the Underground Series celebrates one of the great engineering projects of the past 200 years. A subterranean labyrinth steeped in history that empowers the true lifeblood of London - its people. Opened in 1874 as the western terminus of the District line, Hammersmith station was developed over the next three decades to incorporate what would later become the Piccadilly line. Entirely demolished in the early 1990s, the station was rebuilt into the basement of the Hammersmith Broadway Shopping Centre, salvaging parts of the tiling from the original Harry W Ford façade. The area is home to the Hammersmith Apollo theatre and Bimber’s regular supporter – Melody Whisky Bar.
