Ben Wyvis is a true unicorn when it comes to whisky, partially due to its limited lifespan of just 12 years. Located within the Invergordon grain distillery complex, Ben Wyvis existed to provide malt for blenders and took its name from a closed distillery in the nearby town of Dingwall that closed in 1926. Very little of Ben Wyvis is seen as a single malt and its claim to fame nowadays are the former stills at the distillery. Frank McHardy, an industry legend, began his illustrious career at Invergordon and recalled the Ben Wyvis stills when he was tasked with reviving the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. He knew that the stills were in very good condition not having been used that much. A few adjustments later, they now form the centre of Kilkerran success story.
