Benriach 10 Years Old

Pure Malt
Lot #0250768
FINISH DATE
31 December 2015
Only a handful of Scottish Distilleries still make their own malt. One of them is Benriach. The malting's stand beside the distillery, and twice per week the prize barley is delivered to be steeped, spread and raked until it begins to sprout. Gentle heat works its magic, and the raw grain has become the essential ingredient of a Scotch malt whisky.

Aged 10 years, in original presentation carton.
BenRiach

Benriach has a chequered history since its foundation in 1898. Sold shortly afterwards, as its owner, John Duff, couldn’t afford to keep it going along with the Longmorn distillery. Things didn’t improve for a considerable period of time; 65 years in fact. As the doors closed at Benriach in 1900 for that period of time. Fortunately, the distillery survived and sprung back into life and was expanded in 1985 with a new set of stills. Good times didn’t last too long as the distillery closed its doors again in 2001, but Billy Walker saw the potential and a substantial inventory. Arguably it was only in the following years that we all began to understand what Benriach could deliver, as did Brown-Forman who purchased the distillery in 2016.
