Auchentoshan Valinch

2012 Auchentoshan Festival Edition
Lot #1190120
FINISH DATE
31 October 2023
For years, evangelists asked Auchentoshan to create a non-chill-filtered, cask-strength edition of the acclaimed Auchetoshan CLASSIC, Valinch was born. The valinch is the name of the pipette used to draw whisky straight from the cask. A limited release in 2012, creme brulee on the nose, sweet and creamy, then invigorating full-bodied orange zest on the tongue. To finish - sweet, crisp, and lingering. Matured in North American bourbon oak. To commemorate the 2012 Auchentoshan Festival, Distillery Manager Alistair MacDonald has hand-selected the first 200 bottles of Valinch 2012. Signed by Alistair, these exclusive bottles precede the general release of this annual small batch limited edition.
Auchentoshan

Established in 1800 on the outskirts of Glasgow and near the Clyde river, Auchentoshan has always overcome adversity. Originally called Duntocher before changing its name in 1834 to Auchentoshan, before changing owners on a regular basis. Its most famous incident came in 1941 when it was partially destroyed during a German bombing raid. It is said that the pond at the distillery is a result of that event. Unlike many other Lowland distilleries that dispensed with triple distillation, Auchentoshan has continued to utilise this form. In the belief that it is core to the character of their whisky which is predominantly kept for single malt use and always unpeated. Under the ownership of Beam Suntory, the official range continues to expand with new offerings available across the world.
