Ardnamurchan Spirit 2017/AD

The second limited release from Ardnamurchan Distillery. AD stands for both Ardnamurchan Distillery and Anno Domini. On the 20 Apr 2017, 8 of the unpeated and 22 of the peated Octaves were regauged by the distillery staff and subsequently re-racked in equal measure into 4 Spanish oak PX sherry butts. On the 21 Apr 2017, the 4 butts were transported by road from Ardnamurchan Warehouse 1 to Adelphi Warehouse. It was there that the Ardnamurchan Spirit 2017/AD was left to marry-until 21 Aug 2017 when it was regauged in preparation for our bottling run. The contents of the sherry butts were then vatted by Lewis Hamilton and once the strength of the alcohol was determined, approximately 149.0 litres of water was added to the spirit to reduce the strength of the alcohol down to 53.6%. At this point, the spirit was ready for bottling.
