Ardnamurchan 7 Years Old 2016

Distilled at Ardnamurchan Distillery and filled into 1st fill American oak ex-Pedro Ximenez hogshead #833 on 9th September 2016, then selected and bottled by Adelphi Distillery Limited on 20th September 2023 for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, with a yield of just 335 bottles. This bottling is the seventh in a series by Adelphi Distillery that supports the work of the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF's leading welfare charity, and commemorates the 80th Anniversary of Operation Chastise, the Raid on the Ruhr Dams. This Second World War raid created the legendary "Dambusters" moniker. RAF's 617 Squadron were assembled in 1943 to bomb three dams in Germany's Ruhr Valley. These dams were the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe and together the raid was codenamed Operation Chastise. 2023 marks 80 years since the risky raid in which the revolutionary bouncing bomb, created by engineer Barnes Wallis, was dropped at low level on Germany's industrial heartland in the Ruhr Valley. This release is dedicated to the memory of the 53 who lost their lives in the raid.
