Ardbeg 16 Years Old 2006

"Unexpectedly sherried Ardbeg". This whisky was distilled on Thursday the 20th of July 2006 under the close watch of Distillery Manager Stuart Thomson. Then it was laid down in a second-fill Oloroso sherry cask, chosen to temper the smoky, balanced spirit with a gentle sherried style. This cask was originally intended for Ardbeg Uigeadail but as he tasted the cask years later, Dr Bill Lumsden was intrigued by its sherried intensity and he stowed the cask away for a longer maturtion. More than 16 years later, Cask No. 2787 is just as he hoped, combining notes of molasses, brazil nuts and fruit cake with surprisinglu subtle peaty hints. Bottled on Valentines Day 2023, this is a memorable Ardbeg, released to mark Feis Ile 2023. Bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill filitered and with no added colour. Limited to only 623 individually numbered bottles.
