Originally founded in 1896 by John Dewar's & Sons, Aberfeldy distillery remains a key component of the blend. Until the 1960s, a direct rail link was used to transport casks to the Dewar's warehouses in Perth. This strong association has ensured its survival with only 2 years of hibernation since 1896. Aberfeldy's whiskies have enjoyed a rise in popularity in recent times thanks to a successful rebranding and expansion of the range by current owners Bacardi. The distillery remains relatively unscathed with the only notable expansion in 1972 when the number of stills was doubled.
