Tasting Notes - Supplied by Blair Bowman (Whisky Consultant & Author) http://www.blairbowman.com/

Appearance:
Sparkling antique brass

Aroma:
Delicious sweetness at first, like crème brûlée and freshly baked tarte tatin. This is followed by more caramelised baked apples with hints of sweet cinnamon spice. There is a slight note of old tool sheds, with the likes of dried grass cuttings, WD40, oil-stained rags and an old damp waxed Barbour jacket.

Taste:
More of the baked apples and light cinnamon spices at first. There are more orchard fruit notes here too now that develop into a slight saw dust and fresh peeled bark note. The dried cut grass note is now less obvious and is more like walking in a garden centre with soft herbaceous notes. Later there is the arrival of more damp waxy Barbour jackets that have just a hint of shotgun smoke about them and thick woollen jumpers worn the day after a beach bonfire. The whisky feels very delicate in the mouth, each part is in a finely tuned balance: the orchard fruits, cinnamon spices and woody herbaceous notes.

Comment:
A medium to long finish that is very fine and delicately balanced. It is exceedingly quaffable with a moreish quality to it, the various layers keep unravelling and then repeating, which makes you want to go back in for more.
