This is a hidden gem single malt whisky which was distilled in 1990 by Wakatsuru Shozou Distillery, one of the long-established but not well known Japanese distilleries. Wakatsuru Distillery obtained a license to distil whisky in 1953 and has been producing a small amount of whisky on and off since then.

Although some Ji-whisky companies would just import unblended whiskies from Scotland and just blend, bottle and sell them, this is a single malt whisky made at their own distillery. Since the limited 20 bottles that were previously released have completely sold out, they decided to launch the second phase of Wakatsuru Sunshine Single Malt Whisky on 5 April, 2013.

    Distilled in 1990 & Bottled on 22/04/2013.

Since the bottle is made of porcelain, you cannot see the inside but this malt has a beautiful amber colour with a rich bouquet. Owing to the high demand of highball and single malt whisky in Japan, the distillery decided to produce whisky again in 2013.

The distillery is in Toyama Toyama is the capital city of Toyama Prefecture, Japan, located on the coast of the Sea of Japan in the Ch_bu region on central Honsh_, about 200 km north of the city of Nagoya and 300 km northwest of Tokyo.
