Glenturret 10 Years Old
Glenturret is one of Scotland’s oldest, if not the oldest distillery, founded in 1775 officially under the name of Hosh, by illicit distillers. Unsurprisingly there is a rich history to the site, which is one of the most picturesque distilleries in Scotland. By current standards, Glenturret is a very small producer and until recently was used mainly by Edrington as a Famous Grouse attraction, thereby overlooking the single malt. It was never a comfortable fit and came to an end in 2019 when the Lalique Group purchased the distillery. Since then, a new single malt range has been launched in 2020, under the watchful eye of Bob Dalgarno was the Master blender at Macallan. He has taken the maturating stock and crafted a series of whiskies that remind many of Macallan, but at a fraction of the cost. A pleasant surprise to many in 2020, expectations are rising around Glenturret as it seeks to establish a new identity.
