    Deanston

Since its inception in 1965 within the site of an old cotton mill, Deanston was a producer for blends and cheap tourist whiskies. Not hugely regarded or appreciated, that is until Master Blender Ian McMillan arrived and saw potential at the distillery. Instigating many of the practices that were ahead of their time such as natural colour, non-chill filtered and a higher bottling strength. Deanston began to show promise and found new audiences, recognition and fans. Today, it has a thriving visitor centre, official range and a new level of respect. And while Ian is no longer at the distillery, the measures that he implemented ensure his legacy continues. Now owned by Distell International as part of the deal that included Bunnahabhain and Tobermory, the owners bring a new level of investment and worldwide distribution, so we can expect to see a lot more from this distillery.
