    Cask Evolution Exploration (3x 20cl)
    Lot #0271184
    FINISH DATE
    29 February 2016

The Micro Provenance web exclusive range comprises an exploratory series of single cask bottlings, hand selected by Jim McEwan & Adam Hannett to showcase the complexity and pedigree of Bruichladdich's individual casks.

Here is a bit of information from Bruichladdich on the bottles: "We invest in our wood extensively. It matters enormously to us. We have whisky maturing here by Loch Indaal in over two hundred different types of cask; from the bodegas of Jerez to the châteaux of Burgundy and vineyards of Sauternes; casks that held organic and biodynamic wines now hold whisky distilled from farms on Islay, Orkney and the Scottish mainland.

We believe passionately in experimentation, in our casks and in our whisky, and we are genuinely excited to be able to release some of these individuals to the world at last, full of character, flair and attitude".

    This set compromises three bottles:

    • Cask No. 149 (63.6% | 200ml)
    • Cask No. 048 (52.0% | 200ml)
    • Cask No. 060 (64.0% | 200ml)

    Bruichladdich

Since Murray McDavid saved the distillery in 2000, with an asking price of £6.5 million. Bruichladdich has gone from strength to strength after a difficult initial period. Now under the ownership of Remy Cointreau, it is one of Islay’s most recognisable whiskies and brands. Remy brought much-needed financial clout that has allowed Bruichladdich to expand into new markets, build warehousing and pursue its brand of terroir. Today, it offers 3 distinctly different distillates, with the Bruichladdich being unpeated, a historical homage to a lost distillery (Port Charlotte) is heavily peated and well regarded. Then at the top of the peat ranking charts is Octomore, which pushes peat in new directions to an eager audience. Expect production details, various casks and eye-catching branding with each and every release from the distillery.
