Macallan 1951

Now this is a Macallan! We are proud to bring this fantastic bottle to auction. The directors of The Macallan took pleasure in offering this rare whisky, distilled in December 1951. Only two sherry butts met the required quality threshold deemed necessary for this bottling. Just 62% of the spirit that was originally filled in to these two ancient sherry butts remained after the angels had their share, leaving just 37% for your enjoyment, producing only 632 bottles and 400 miniatures.

Interestingly, the strength of the whisky was almost identical in the two casks, 49.4% and 49.9% respectively, suggesting an even maturation with each cask contributing an equal share to the flavour profile of the whisky.
