Bowmore 1980 - 2004 Copper Still Decanter Set

This whisky contained in this specially commissioned presentation is a very rare bottle from a limited edition bottling of 1980 Bowmore single malt whisky.

In the summer of 1980 Bowmore Distillery were honoured by the visit of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Unfortunately the planned date for this visit coincided with the 'silent season' a period when distilleries are closed foe essential maintenance.

In over 200 years this was to be by far the most prestigious visit ever to Bowmore Distillery. For such a auspicious occasion and to fully appreciate the traditional methods of producing Islay's oldest malt whisky, It was obvious that only the full distillation process would sufice.

This exceptional malt whisky is the result. Produced from one of only 12 casks filled during this historic and truly memorable visit of 19th August 1980

Pot stillls have been used in the production of alcohol for centuries. The still is the fundamental item of distillation in Scotch malt whisky and it;s shape and dimension determines the style of the spirit. This spirit when aged for many years in oak casks, matures into the malt whiskies so revered by whisky connoisseurs worldwide.

This pot still decanter has been designed by a retired director of a leading company of distillers and is crafted in glass, copper and brass, three traditional elements in the whisky industry.
